How long does an LED candle run on one battery or one charge?
Between about 18 and 250 hours, depending on the candle type and the battery. Small rechargeable tea lights run for tens of hours per charge, battery tapers and tree candles on AA or AAA cells run for 150 hours or more, and coin-cell tea lights sit in between. The table lists the figures our factory publishes for current models.
These are continuous-use figures from the product listings. Real runtime is shorter with fresh-but-cheap batteries, in cold rooms, or on the brightest setting.
| Candle type (our models) | Power | Published runtime |
|---|---|---|
| Rechargeable tea lights, 6/12 sets (TH-07, TH-05, TH-04) | Built-in battery, 2–3 h charge | 18–42 h per charge |
| Magnetic rechargeable tea lights (T301) | Built-in 200 mAh battery | about 50 h per charge |
| Rechargeable pillars, USB-C (TH50 series) | Built-in battery | 24–60 h per charge |
| Rechargeable tapers (FP-21, FP-230) | Built-in 500 mAh battery | 100–150 h per charge |
| Battery tapers (FP-21 battery) | 3 × AAA | about 150 h |
| Clip-on tree candles (FP-01, FP-02) | 1 × AA or AAA | 150–180 h |
| Battery tea light (FP-TH-01) | 1 × CR2450 | about 250 h |
| Floating candles | CR2032, included | about 200 h |
How much longer does a timer make the batteries last?
A timer does not make the battery bigger; it stops the candle running when nobody is looking. A 6-hours-on, 18-hours-off timer means a 150-hour taper lasts about 25 evenings instead of six days left on.
For venues, set the on-period to the opening hours. For retail customers, a timer is the feature that stops the 'my batteries died in two days' complaint.
Are rechargeable LED candles worth it?
For candles lit most evenings, yes: a restaurant with 40 tea lights at 5 hours a night would otherwise change coin cells every few weeks. Use the cost calculator on our homepage with your own numbers. For a once-a-year wedding or a low-price retail pack, battery candles remain the cheaper choice.
What reduces LED candle battery life?
Three things: low-quality batteries, maximum brightness and cold. Use alkaline or the battery type stated by the manufacturer, use a dimmer setting where the remote allows it, and remove batteries before storing candles for the summer to avoid corrosion.
