What are the main LED candle flame types?
Three: a flicker bulb (an LED inside a flame-shaped cap), a 3D flame (a flat flame-shaped tip lit from the side so it looks solid from every angle) and a moving flame (a flame piece that physically sways). Most of our current models use the 3D flame.
| Flame type | Looks like | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Flicker bulb | Classic warm dot of light | Tree candles, window candles, low-cost packs |
| 3D flame / 3D wick | Solid flame shape from any angle, soft flicker | Tea lights and pillars on dining tables |
| Moving flame | Flame piece that sways | Statement pillars, retail displays |
Which LED flame looks most realistic in photos?
3D flames photograph well from any angle because the tip is visible from the side; flicker bulbs can look like a light bulb in close-ups. If you sell online, ask for a short video of the actual model in a dark room.
Does the flame type change battery life?
Slightly. Moving-flame mechanisms use more power than a static 3D tip. Compare the published runtime of the exact model rather than the flame type.
