Which is cheaper over a year, rechargeable or battery LED candles?
Rechargeable candles are usually cheaper when they are lit most days; battery candles are cheaper when they are used a few times a year. The break-even depends on hours per night, nights per year and your local battery price, which is why we built a calculator instead of quoting a number.
What does a rechargeable LED candle set include?
Our rechargeable sets come with the candles, a charging station or magnetic base with ports for the whole set, a USB cable and, on most models, an infrared remote with timer. Charging takes about 2–3 hours on the tea light sets.
| Rechargeable set | Battery candle | |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront price per candle | Higher | Lower |
| Running cost | Electricity only | Batteries for every cycle |
| Staff routine | Dock the tray at closing | Open each candle and change cells |
| Best for | Restaurants, hotels, rental fleets | Weddings, one-off events, retail gift packs |
| Waste | Battery stays in the candle | Spent cells to recycle |
Do rechargeable candles lose capacity?
Every lithium battery loses capacity with charge cycles. Ask your supplier for the cell capacity (for example 200 mAh or 500 mAh in our models) and the runtime per charge, and keep 10% spare candles so a full set is always charging.
Which venues still buy battery LED candles?
Wedding planners who sell the candles with the event, garden centres with low shelf prices, and anyone who needs candles in places without a charging point. Many venues keep both: rechargeable for every day, battery for the big night.
